Reflection on The Dance Workshop

OOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

My first reflection!!!

So our first dance workshop(hopefully not the last) incorporated both JC1 and JC2 cohorts. We were glad to have Miss Jennifer as our instructor(amazing woman!). This one and a half hour workshop was designed so that we can learn and understand the need to isolate and be able to control our body movements in such a way that conscious movements can become natural movements.

So we started off with a a few warm ups which involved 4 counts of walking and bounces. This was done to loosen us up and to allow us to feel and be able to utilize our core(which utilizes our hip flexus and abdominal muscles).
We then moved on to simple isolations. First, we did the head. Then we moved on to ribcage isolations. Lastly we did hip isolations.
We moved on to learning how to do a body ripple which most people were not too adept at doing but fun nonetheless!
Then we moved on to the choreo! This was the best part as we put all of our newly acquired skills to use. Every row was rotated so that each and ever person would be able to get the choreo.
After learning the whole choreo, we had a miniature performance as a class, a battle style performance, a 'select group' performance and a class performance again.
All in all this was a fruitful experience as we learnt how to utilize specific areas of our bodies in the form of isolations to change the physicality of an action, gesture or situation.
